During my second internship at Wanted 5 games
I worked on multiple features for the
official digital version of the boardgame Stratego.
My most notable contributions are:
1. An interactive tutorial system.
2. Setting up localization, to support changing the language of text in-game.
3. Researching a web-to-Steam porting pipeline for Stratego, and future web games by the company.
Tutorial system

A solid turorial system was required to explain gameplay mechanics to players.
This means that text and highlights appear when certain situations in the game take place.
The tutorial system I created had to interact with a lot of existing sytems like: the board and the pieces, the setup creator, and the FTU (first time user flow).
Localisation
Another challenge I took on was to implement the localisation. All in-game texts had to be translated at the click of a button.
This system was set up by integrating and manually customising the Localisation module in Cocos Creator.

Web-to-Steam porting reseach

I got the chance to improve my research skills a lot while writing my thesis on Stratego Online.
In addition to technical research required to design a web-to-Steam pipeline, I performed extensive data collection and analysis.
This resulted in detailed information about popular game distribution platforms.
This can easily be used to determine advantagous platforms to launch new games on. This research has good value for Wanted 5 Games.
